Adventure in
Retirement
“We live in a wonderful
world that is full of beauty,
charm and adventure. There is
no end to the adventures that
we can have if only we seek
them with our eyes open.”
- Jawaharlal Nehru
Assisted Living Store, Inc.
(Assisted Living Store), South
Saint Paul, Minnesota
announces its purchase and
development of
RetirementFriendFinder.com.
A new social online network
created by its President and
Gerontologist Kimberly A.
Carlson.
Assisted Living Store is an
online company that sells
senior friendly “gadgets” and
other products that help keep
people independent and at home
longer. The company has been
in business since 1999.
Assisted Living Store recently
created an on-line social
network for people enjoying
retirement. Our review of the
Internet showed that there are
ample dating sites for people
of all ages. We discovered
that there are very few
networking sites for those
interested in locating
acquaintances with similar
interests.
Kimberly wrote,
"We have
retired family and friends
that travel (as snowbirds) to
retirement destinations each
year. Their biggest complaint
is that they do not know other
people in these communities
when they arrive. We have
created a new website that is
meant to assist people in
meeting others in their
retirement destinations.
If you want to find others to
golf with, walk dogs, go to
exercise classes, go on wine
tasting tours, or any activity
in retirement our new website
is a place for you.
Interested members can use the
website to plan trips or other
activities with new friends
having similar interests.
Socializing and adding some
adventure in retirement is
healthy and it makes for a
more enjoyable life
experience.”
The
membership is free of charge.
David L. Janovy, who was
appointed by the former
Governor of Minnesota to serve
on the Minnesota Board on
Aging, said in part:
"I have known
Kimberly Carlson for a number
of years, first as a graduate
student (she was my advisee
and graduate assistant) and
now as an outstanding
professional gerontologist and
colleague. She is a person of
the highest professionalism,
personal standards and
integrity. I am delighted to
see that she has developed a
web site where she can use her
exceptional expertise in aging
to serve the needs of a broad
range of older adults and
their adult children. She is
knowledgeable, competent, and,
she cares. What more could one
ask?"
